[...] Beauty and the Squat Bears – This is the final book in this twisted fairy tale series from Yen Press. Snow White flees the kingdom when her Stepmother’s magic mirror declares her the fairest in the land. She ends up at the seven squat bears’ cabin, but then don’t want to harbor a fugitive princess. A princess should be with a prince. They set off to find one, and find the life of royalty can be quite trying, as they find prince after prince under curses and heartbroken by the woman of their dreams. One of them will need to take Snow White. Which will it be? The Squat Bears series has been a big hit with both parents and kids with its mashed-up look at fairy tales and a humorous eye that both young and old can appreciate. This series is a must for any elementary school library or young reader collection. Share and Enjoy: [...]

[...] Goldilocks and the Seven Squat Bears (Yen Press): I’m recommending this one based entirely on the fact that it’s by Émile Bravo, who provided the art for the beautiful and moving My Mommy Is in America and She Met Buffalo Bill (Fanfare/Ponent Mon).
[...] Goldilocks and the Seven Squat Bears – Originally published in France, this title is the first of a series from Yen Press. The seven squat bears return home after a long day of working in the mines. The problem: they find a giantess sleeping on their beds. All seven of them! The solution: go out and find a prince to take care of the giantess. But will he be a giant-slaying prince or a princess-marrying prince? Or both? With a story filled with mixed-up fairy tales and plenty of humor, this title could be hit with both kids and adults. For a full review of this title, check out Snow Wildsmith’s review of it here. [...]

[...] Goldilocks and the Seven Squat Bears isn’t from Japan or Korea, the usual sources for books from Yen Press, but it’s been written and illustrated by Émile Bravo, so it’s likely to be very, very good.
